Bruce Schimmel in the City Paper and the South Philly Review both recently had articles on the new equipment that he Community/Labor Refinery Tracking Committee now has to safeguard air quality in south philly.
The Cerex UV Hound uses ultra-violet light to detect pollutants in the air. Previously local groups have used the famous Buckets which have been a cheap and effective organizing tool across the country.
This comes off the heals of a great victory this spring for the committee and Clean Water Action as Sunoco agreed to stop using Hydrogen Flouride at its refinery in South Philly.
A lot of Greenadelphia! users have contributed to the committee and to their work so congrats to all as the community continues to stand up against corporate polluters.
